PublishingDocuments often need to be published to paper or to electronic formats such as PDF. ALiCE connects to third party engines, the default being Adlib’s Express Server©. The PDF Creator allows the user to specify one or more documents to publish, the target (PDF or paper or both), and the presentation template to use for watermarks and running headers and footers. With that information the PDF Creator generates a “job ticket” specific to the target publishing engine. When the engine has successfully completed the work, the PDF Creator logs the job as complete. Another option is to associate a PDF rendition to the source document. When the publishing engine has completed creating the PDF, the PDF Creator will automatically check in the rendition and create the association.
